(Park HIlls, MO.) There's an unusual side effect of the coronavirus toilet paper shortage that Park Hills officials are dealing with. City Administrator, Mark McFarland, says
people are using wipes and paper towels as a substitute for toilet paper and it's clogging up the city's sewer system.
According to McFarland there is a grate in the system that catches items like tree limbs and other debris. He explains they normally clean this once a day however crews are now cleaning it every hour. McFarland says at that rate the system is on overload and the extra strain could cause future problems. McFarland adds he wants to asks citizens to remember to flush only toilet paper into the sewer system.
