Tax Rate Approved for MAC District Patrons

(Park Hills, MO.) Patrons of the Mineral Area College district will not see an increase in their property tax rates after today's Board of Directors meeting. A hearing on the tax rate was held prior to the meeting. The President of Mineral Area College, Dr. Joe Gilgour, says even though there were two residents who thought board members should actually raise the rate, for improved education, directors decided to keep the rate at 46.38 cents per one hundred dollars assessed valuation.

Additional business at the Mineral Area College Board of Directors meeting saw a discussion on enrollment. The school is down 199 students, 9.9%, in it's daily numbers. They're also down 1348 credit hours which translates to 5.8%. Another Champion of Excellence Award was handed out. This month's award goes to Denise Sebastian in part for her exemplary work in navigating the rules and procedures of the CARES ACT funding that's been available to help education.
