(Farmington, MO) The position of City Prosecutor in Farmington could become an appointed post rather than an elected one after a lengthy discussion at Monday night's Farmington City Council meeting. City Administrator, Greg Beavers, says they've been talking about this change ever since municipal court changes were enacted in the state after the Ferguson demonstrations over the death of Michael Brown.
According to Beavers Farmington is the only city in the county that elects its prosecutor instead of appointing them. No decision was made yet the switch is still under discussion. In other business the retirement of the Farmington Oaks Senior Center's Executive Director, Mona Yates, was on the agenda. Beavers says council members are discussing having the East Missouri Action Agency manage the enter when Yates retires.
