(St. Francois County, MO.) Officials at the St, Francois County Health Center are announcing the first death in the county from the caronavirus. The resident was a male in his 70s who had underlying health problems. He tested positive for the virus March 31st. Reports indicate the case was not travel related. Everyone is urged to take preventative actions to inhibit the spread of all respiratory viruses. These include following Governor Parson's state wide stay at home order that starts at 12:01 am Monday, April 6 lasting until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 24. You're asked to avoid close contact with sick people, don't touch your face with unwashed hands, wash your hands with soap and water often for at least 20 seconds, cover coughs or sneezes with a tissue and throw it in the trash, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, and stay home if you are sick.
A press release from the St. Francois County Health Center indicates older adults, and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions, may be at higher risk for more serious complications from COVID-19.
