(St. Francois County, MO) Officials with the Missouri State HIghway Patrol are reporting four traffic fatalities in the state over the New Year's Holiday weekend. Troopers say two traffic fatalities occurred in the Troop D, Springfield, area; one traffic fatality occurred in the Troop H, St. Joseph, and Troop I, Rolla, areas. Reports from the patrol also show there were 458 traffic crashes reported along with 97 injuries, and 135 D.W.I. traffic stops. Troopers arrested 58 people for driving while impaired and there were no drownings or boating fatalities. The 78 hour New Year's counting period began at 6 p.m. Thursday, December 31st, and ended at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, January 3rd. During the 2019 counting period one person was killed and another 140 were injured. That counting period was just 30 hours long.
