(Park Hills, MO) Some residents of the Parkland are voicing their opinions on the many budget cuts announced by Mineral Area College officials. The president of M.A.C., Dr. Joe Gilgour, says supporters are passionate about keeping the college offerings as they are.
Last week officials at the college made the list of cuts known. Nine full time faculty positions will be reduced, as well as one full time non-teaching faculty position, and three full time classified staff positions. Four vacant full time positions will remain open. In addition to these reductions, the college will cut costs in departmental, operational, and part time staff budgets. Several departments will be eliminated including the Music, Theater, Agricultural, Radiologic Technology, and Modern and Foreign Languages Departments.
